About Coffee from Tarrazú, Costa Rica

Coffee was introduced to Costa Rica in the 18th century, and quickly became a major export crop. The country's central valley is home to some of the world's richest soils, and the climate is ideal for growing coffee. As a result, Costa Rica has become one of the world's leading producers. Every year, thousands of people travel to Costa Rica to visit its many coffee farms. The Pirrís River Valley is one of the most popular destinations for coffee tourists. Its rolling hills offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Whether you're a coffee lover or simply looking for a beautiful place to relax, the Pirrís River Valley is worth a visit.

If you're interested in trying Tarrazú coffee, be sure to buy beans that have been roasted within the past few months. This will ensure that you get the freshest possible coffee and the best flavor.

Does Juan Valdez drink Costa Rican coffee?

For many years, the country's coffee growers have used the slogan "Juan Valdez drinks Costa Rican coffee" to promote their product.

Costa Rica's ambassador to the United States notably used the phrase in an advertisement in The New York Times in order to garner attention for Costa Rican coffee.

However, this slogan came under fire from the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia, the organization that represents Colombia's coffee growers. In response, a Tico coffee company produced an affidavit from a Costa Rican man, Juan Valdez, certifying that he does indeed drink Costa Rican coffee. Confronted with this fact, the Federación agreed to drop any further legal process.
